Former India captain and allrounder Kapil Dev believes the current side is a "far better" side than the Pakistan outfit they will face at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The 2011 World Cup winners have won six of the their last seven ODI meetings with Sarfraz Ahmed's men in the last five years, with their only defeat coming in the Champions Trophy final at The Oval two years ago.

And Dev, who won the World Cup in 1983, does not think that Virat Kohli's men will come unstuck this time either against their Pakistani counterparts when the two sides meet in Manchester.

"The Indian team is definitely far better. I am not saying [that] because I am Indian," Dev told reporters.

Dev praised Bumrah for his fantastic ability

"But I feel when I was playing the Pakistan team was much better than us. Today I can say that if they play 10 matches, India will win seven.

"What will happen that day God knows. I hope the players play to the best of their potential."

The 60-year-old also praised Kohli as "the number one player in the world" and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who has taken five wickets in two games in the tournament so far.

"I do not think so that I can compare myself with him [Kohli], he is really good, he is number one player in the world and we are proud of our captain.

"When I saw him [Bumrah] for the first time, I did not expect him to have such an ability. I changed my word and I say, God, he is really fantastic.

"From such a short run-up he can produce, with an awkward action, such pace. It is not easy. I just want him to be fit for the next five years."
