Grace Harris smashed the record for the fastest century in Women's Big Bash history as Brisbane Heat coasted to victory over Melbourne Stars at the Gabba.

Harris crashed an unbeaten 101 in just 42 balls to take her side to a 10-wicket victory over the Stars, as Brisbane cantered to 138 without loss inside 11 overs.

The opener hit 13 fours and six sixes in the remarkable knock, which eclipsed the previous record by five deliveries, and got one live when she was dropped on 92 by Erin Osborne.

Ash Gardner had been the record-holder, with her ton for Syndey Sixers last year coming in 47 balls.

In beating that mark by quite some distance, Harris also became the first batter to score two centuries in the WBBL.

Her previous hundred came against the Sixers in December 2015.

Earlier, Harris's team-mates had restricted the Stars to 132 for 7, with Jess Jonasen claiming 3-17.
