Cricket has always been in Glenn’s blood, learning alongside her brothers.
Her father and uncle both played for Denby Cricket Club. As she grew up, however, hockey began to play a role as well.
She still plays as a full-back for Belper in the Derbyshire National League.
When England won the World Cup in 2017, Sarah Glenn was still contemplating which sport to choose, having represented England at youth level as a full-back. Watching the final at Lord’s as Heather Knight’s side won in dramatic fashion changed all that.
Glenn made her international debut against Pakistan in Malaysia in December 2019, playing all six games in the ODI and T20I series, taking 12 wickets.
In doing so, the Derby-born wrist-spinner had made a name for herself, very possibly bowling herself into England’s best side.
She conceded her runs at just 3.36 per over in the ODI series, picking up eight wickets in the process, before adding four more in the T20Is, all with an economy of just 5.40.
Glenn can also bat.
She opened the batting for Loughborough Lightning at times in the Kia Super League.
She played under the guidance of former Leicestershire seamer Scott Boswell during her time at Trent College; she joined the school for sixth form, having been homeschooled beforehand.
