Born: October 27, 1998
Role: Right-hand bat, right-arm medium
When she was just 15 years old, Tayla Vlaeminck nearly quit cricket to pursue a career in football, such was her talent.
Since then, there have been several setbacks, including multiple ruptures of her anterior cruciate ligament.
However, back fit and maturing with every year, the ‘Bendigo Bullet’ – as she has been christened – has the potential to emerge as one of the quickest bowlers in the women’s game.
She made her international bow in October 2018 in an ODI against Pakistan, before a first T20I soon followed a month later.
Her first introduction to Ashes cricket then came in the one-off Test match at Taunton.
She went wicketless there but bowled with real hostility.
In her T20I career to date, she has conceded her runs at just 5.76 runs per over – proof that she possesses some control, even in spite of a somewhat unique action.
