At just 16 years old, Syeda Aroob Shah is Pakistan’s second youngest member of the 2020 T20 World Cup squad.
She made her T20I debut during Pakistan’s T20I series against England in December 2019 and, in her three T20Is between then and the end of January 2020, she had taken two wickets at an economy rate of 7.66 with best figures of 1/21.
In the first T20I, Shah took the valuable wicket of England opener Amy Jones, as well as taking the catch to dismiss England’s hard-hitting allrounder Katherine Brunt.
In the second T20I, she claimed the wicket of Nat Sciver, arguably England’s most creative and dynamic batsman, for just three runs.
Shah has made a name for herself in domestic cricket in Pakistan and recently she represented the PCB Challengers.
Despite her young age, Shah is a fast learner and has already had domestic and international experience playing with some of Pakistan’s best cricketers.
With selectors putting faith in some of the country's best young talent in Australia this spring, she will hope to have the opportunity to demonstrate her abilities during the tournament.
