Sune Luus has established herself as one of South Africa’s best spin bowlers.
After representing Northerns Women and South Africa Under 19s, it didn’t take long for Luus to make her T20I debut in 2012 at the age of 16.
Now 24, she has already played 67 T20Is and has fast become one of South Africa’s best performers.
Luus already has a wealth of international cricket experience, and recently captained South Africa during their tours of Pakistan and India when Dane van Niekerk was absent due to injury.
In 2017, she was named Women’s Cricketer of the Year at Cricket South Africa’s annual awards.
She has become a key player in South Africa’s bowling attack and in her 67 T20Is up until January 20, 2020 she has taken 41 wickets at an average of 20.24, an economy rate of 6.30 and with best figures of 5-8.

In her nine matches she took five wickets at an economy rate of 7.06, with best figures of 2-16.
Luus has a number of accolades to her name, including becoming only the second player to score a half-century and take a five-for in a women’s ODI.
She also won player of the tournament at the Women’s World Cup qualifiers in 2017.
Luus’ international and franchise experience will no doubt be invaluable to a South African side full of potential but yet to get their hands on any silverware.
