The current captain of West Indies is one of the most prolific and talented cricketers in global women’s cricket; a genuine all-rounder, with 100 IT20 appearances, batting in the top order and bowling quality off-spin.

Having made her T20 debut in 2008, her career could not have got off to a more explosive start, smashing 90 off 49 balls in her first innings, which still remains her highest score in T20’s. From that moment on, it was clear that the Windies had a special cricketer in their squad. And Taylor has certainly proved that over her career.

After scoring consecutive half-centuries in her next two appearances for the ODI squad, she was picked for the 2009 T20 World Cup .

Again she scored a plethora of runs, cementing her place in the side. A maiden ODI century (108 not out) against South Africa followed, and Taylor was subsequently named Women’s Cricketer of the Year at the West Indies Cricket Awards. Remarkably, she has won that title every single year since 2009.

Consistent performances with bat and ball in 2010 and 2011 saw Taylor named ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year in 2011. She was also the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year in 2012.

Taylor continued to break records, hitting the third highest total in women’s ODI’s when she struck her highest international 50-over score of 171 at the 2013 World Cup.

However, with all this personal glory, she was yet to lift a trophy for the West Indies.

That was to change at the 2016 T20 World Cup.

As well as being named player of the tournament for her 246 runs and crucial eight wickets, she captained her side to their first piece of silverware with victory over four-time champions, Australia, in the final.

This led to her being named in the 2017 ICC Women’s T20 Team of the Year.
