Born: July 17, 1983
Role: Left-hand bat
Brought up in Trinidad, this hard-hitting left-handed batsman has loved sports ever since being a child, leading her to work towards a degree in sports studies while playing cricket.
With over 150 international appearances for West Indies, ahead of the 2019/20 season she was rewarded with a central contract.
A debutant in 2008 on the Windies’ tour of Europe, she made her international bow against Ireland and smashed 52 in her first T20I. Another impressive score of 79 not out followed in only her third T20 international, against the Netherlands on that same tour.
As she approaches 1,000 T20 runs, she has broken records along the way, and as of January 2020 held the joint second highest third-wicket partnership in T20s, along with Tremayne Smartt, for their joint effort of 124 in 2010 against the Netherlands.
Her highest score in the 20-over format, 81, followed in 2011, but after this the runs dried up a little and triggered a three-year hiatus from the national side.
Throughout this time she worked heavily on her fitness and cricket skills, which proved worthwhile as she was granted selection for the Windies’ squad again, as well as the WBBL franchise, Adelaide Strikers for the 2016/17 edition. Selection in the victorious 2016 T20 World Cup team followed.
Not only is she a powerful striker of the ball, thanks to her physical training career, she can prove to be a useful bowler, with her left-arm pace picking up crucial wickets when her team needs them.
