Wicketkeeper Nawaz has been a regular member of Pakistan’s side since her T20I debut against Australia in 2014
Born: March 14, 1994
Role: Wicketkeeper
Pakistan’s wicketkeeper Sidra Nawaz has 91 Pakistan appearances to her name, 48 of those being T20Is (as of January 26, 2020).
She has been a regular member of Pakistan’s side since her T20I debut against Australia in 2014.
Although not well-known for her batting, Nawaz has scored some important runs in the lower order.
Her high score in T20Is is 22 but she can perform an importan role when Pakistan have been chasing and have lost key batsmen early in their innings.
Nawaz represented the PCB Blasters in the 2019/20 National Triangular T20 Women’s Championship and made valuable contributions in the middle order.
Her stand-out performances came in the matches against PCB Dynamites in the group-stage and against the PCB Challengers in the final, in which she scored 20 off 12 balls and 20 off 16 balls respectively.
Nawaz also performed well behind the stumps at the 2018 T20 World Cup in the Caribbean, her stand-out performance being against Ireland where she made two stumpings in what was one of Pakistan’s best performances in a difficult tournament.
Her experience and leadership is going to be very important for a Pakistan team that has introduced some of its young talent into the World Cup squad for 2020.
