Shashikala Siriwardene is Sri Lanka’s most experienced player, with 118 ODIs and 77 T20Is to her name (as of January 30, 2020).

She made her ODI debut in 2003 and her T20I debut in 2010.

In her T20I career to January 2020, she had scored 1,079 runs at an average of 17.40, with a strike rate of 88.44 and a high score of 52.

With the ball she had taken 70 wickets at an average of 21.41, with an economy rate of 5.75 and best figures of 4-9.

She is arguably Sri Lanka’s best ever female cricketer, having made valuable contributions in all areas of the game. Siriwardene was ranked No.6 in the ICC allrounder rankings, ahead of Sri Lanka T20I captain Chamari Atapattu, in the weeks before the 2020 T20 World Cup.

She is Sri Lanka’s second highest T20I runscorer, 413 runs behind Atapattu.

Siriwardene is also Sri Lanka’s leading T20I wicket-taker.

Ahead of the 2018 T20 World Cup, she was named as one of the players to watch and she finished the tournament as the joint-leading wicket-taker for Sri Lanka, with four in three matches.

After the tournament, she was named as Sri Lanka’s standout player by the ICC.

Not only does Siriwardene have a wealth of experience in T20Is and T20 World Cups, but she also captained the T20I side for 31 matches.

Siriwardene is one of Sri Lanka’s most valuable players and her experience will be crucial to a team looking to improve on their disappointing 2018 T20 World Cup campaign.
