Birthday: March 9, 1988
Role: Wicketkeeper
Named as one of five ICC breakout stars of women’s cricket in 2018, after becoming Bangladesh’s leading T20 run-scorer that year, this keeper-batsman has become a great addition to her national side.
She made her debut in 2014 against Pakistan, but it wasn’t until 2018 that she began to really emerge as a stand-out performer, earning selection in the victorious Women’s Asia Cup squad.
In the 20-over format her batting is highly impressive, and she became the first Bangladesh woman to make a T20I half-century, scoring 50 in May 2018 against South Africa. Another excellent innings followed, her highest T20 score of 51 in 2018 against Ireland, as she helped her side to victory in a WT20 qualifier match.
From her 35 T20 appearances up to February 1, 2020, she had 465 runs, with her batting since 2018 becoming a key part of Bangladesh’s improvements.
Alongside her excellent batting, she also has proved to have a safe pair of hands behind the stumps, holding the second most dismissals in T20 games for Bangladesh (35), sitting behind leader Nigar Sultana.
Her breakthrough year of 2018 resulted in her being selected in 2019 for the World T20 qualifiers in Scotland where she continued to impress, leading to selection in the 2019 South Asian Games where her team won gold to beat Sri Lanka.
