Sanjida Islam will be hoping to show just how far her side’s batting ability has come over the years during the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Born in Rangpur, she didn't originally play domestically for her hometown, instead turning out in the domestic leagues for Chittagong in 2009, aged just 13.

She moved to Dhaka in 2010, ahead of a return to Rangpur in 2012, and impressed sufficiently to earn selection into the national side.

Having made her T20 debut in 2012 against Ireland and her ODI debut in 2014 against Pakistan, she has gone on to earn 76 caps (as of February 1, 2020), giving her plenty of experience going into her third global tournament.

One of the standout moments of her career was when she hit the third highest T20 score for her country by a woman, striking an impressive 71 not out off 60 balls in Scotland in 2019, helping her team win the T20 World Cup qualifiers.

As well as this performance, she remembers fondly being part of the squad that came out victorious in the 2018 Women's Asia Cup for the first time, defeating defending champions India.

A recent string of solid performances for the development women’s side at the beginning of 2020 has put a strong case forward for her to take to the field during the 2020 T20 World Cup.
