Born: November 7, 1998
Role: Right-hand bat, right-arm medium
Rosemary Mair’s first over in international cricket was taken for 18 runs by Smriti Mandhana.
Her response, however, suggests that the 21-year-old might just thrive at international level.
She came in for high praise from former captain Amy Satterthwaite, who hailed Mair’s ability to remain composed in the face of the barrage from India’s star batter.
Mair’s next two overs went for just 13, while she grabbed herself a maiden wicket in the shape of Arundhati Reddy.
“She's a young player who's coming through,” said Satterthwaite.
“Mandhana certainly put her around her boundary in her first game, but she came back later in the match and it shows her character. She's got a good head on her and a skill set that's going to be a real asset in these conditions.”
Mair was handed her first national team contract in September 2019.
