Yadav has taken more wickets in T20Is than any other Indian – only six bowlers sit ahead of her on the worldwide list
Born: August 24, 1991
Role: Right-hand bat, right-arm wrist spin
The daughter of a retired army officer, Poonam Yadav has grown into a key player for India over the years.
Ever since making her debut for the national side against Bangladesh at Vadodara in 2013, she has proven a potent wicket-taker for her country.
That, of course, is par for the course when it comes to the world’s top wrist-spinners.
And Yadav, with her slow and teasing style, certainly fits into that category.
She has passed 150 scalps across all three formats, having played a solitary Test in 2014 against South Africa.
She has taken more wickets in T20Is than any other Indian – only six bowlers sit ahead of her on the worldwide list.
She was named as India’s female player of the year for 2019, having taken 39 ODI wickets across 2018 and 2019 – the most of any bowler in the women’s game.
