Despite her age – she is just 20 years old, Pooja Vastrakar made her domestic debut as far back as 2013.
Initially merely an enthusiastic cricket-playing child, she was spotted while practising in her local nets by a coach, who liked what he saw.
She first joined Madhya Pradesh as a batsman, only later to switch to her right-arm seamers that have seen her become a fully-fledged international.
She made her debut for India against South Africa at the beginning of 2018, impressing enough in her early outings to earn a place in her country’s squad for the World T20.
However, she would suffer a knee injury that would rule her out of the competition before it began.
