Omaima Sohail made her T20I debut in October 2018 against Australia and between then and the end of January 2020 she had played 20 T20Is.
In her T20I career to that point, the top-order batsman has scored 294 runs at an average of 15.47, a strike-rate of 98, and with a high score of 43.
She has been a regular member of Pakistan’s T20I and ODI teams and played in the recent series against Bangladesh and England.
Sohail was named in the squad for the 2018 Women’s T20 Asia Cup, but did not play. She was also named in the squad for the 2018 T20 World Cup in the Caribbean.
Sohail’s stand-out performance came in Pakistan’s first group-stage match against Australia in which she hit 20 off 11 balls at a strike-rate of 181.81.
In January 2019, the PCB awarded 17 central contracts and Sohail was the only new player to be handed a deal; a reward for her high level of performances.
Sohail should take great confidence from earning a central contract and she will be able to draw from her experience in the T20 World Cup in 2018 to help her team in the upcoming competition.
