Nondumiso Shangase has taken domestic cricket in South Africa by storm.
Before making her T20I debut against Pakistan in May 2019, Shangase had made a name for herself as captain of the KwaZulu-Natal women’s team.
Her success does not stop there.
In 2018 she was named in the Powerade National Academy squad which many saw as just reward for the hard work and dedication she has shown since she started playing cricket in 2013.
She was included in the 2019 Academy intake and was a part of the South Africa Women’s Emerging team that hosted England and Australia academies in a triangular series in 2018.
As well as making the squad for South Africa’s series against Pakistan in May 2019, Shangase made the squad for the T20I and ODI squad’s against India in October 2019.
She has been praised by KwaZulu-Natal’s women’s coach, Dinesha Devnarain, who said: "she works extremely hard and giving up isn’t an option for her".
Shangase has also been praised for her ability to fit naturally into the South African team.
Although she is relatively inexperienced in T20I cricket, she will be an important player for South Africa to call on.
