Nilakshi de Silva made her T20I debut in 2013.
In her 35 T20Is between then and January 30, 2020, she had scored 224 runs at an average of 9.33, a strike rate of 88.18 with a high score of 35 not out.
With the ball in the same time she took 11 wickets at an average of 21.54, an economy rate of 6.73, and with best figures of 3-13.
Although she has established herself in Sri Lanka’s middle-order, her performances have been inconsistent and she had a disappointing 2019 T20I series against Australia with the bat.
In the three-match series she scored 12 runs with a high score of 10 in the first T20I.
Despite her inconsistency with the bat, she has impressed at times with the ball and she was the leading wicket-taker for Sri Lanka in the 2018 Women’s T20 Asia Cup, with seven wickets in five matches.
She also has experience of playing in previous T20 World Cups and performed well in the 2018 T20 World Cup in St Lucia.
She will hope to draw on her experience to put in some good performances in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
