Former captain Mignon Du Preez has established herself as a reliable and consistent top-order batsman for South Africa.

She has a wealth of T20I experience, representing her country 95 times in T20Is (as of January 20, 2020), having made her debut against New Zealand in 2007.

Du Preez is South Africa’s most experienced T20I player. In those 95 T20Is she scored over 1,500 runs at an average of 21.49, a strike rate of 99.61 and with a high score of 69.

She became captain in 2011 and led her side in 46 ODIs, 50 T20Is and one Test match, helping South Africa to their first Women’s World T20 semi-final in 2014.

As well as being the most experienced South African T20I and ODI player, she is also the highest-run scorer for South Africa in both formats.

In 2016, Du Preez became the first South African woman to score 1,000 career runs in T20Is and she has continued her excellence in this format of the game since.

Du Preez has also represented Melbourne Stars in the WBBL and in her 49 matches has scored 1,118 runs at average of 25.41, a strike rate of 108.33 and with a high score of 88.

She has also played in the Kia Super League for Southern Vipers and Loughborough Lightning, enjoying a very successful 2019 KSL with the latter.

One of her best performances was against Surrey Stars in which she scored an unbeaten 48 off 25 balls to take her team to Finals Day.

The pressure of the upcoming T20 World Cup will not faze Du Preez and her experience will be invaluable.
