One of the fastest bowlers in the history of the women’s game, Lea Tahuhu has consistently been ranked as one of the best around.
She has taken more than 100 wickets for the White Ferns since making her debut almost a decade ago in 2011. She was fearsome even then; her first international wicket was that of Meg Lanning.
Born in Christchurch, Tahuhu’s journey in domestic cricket began with Canterbury, making her debut as an 18-year-old. Two years later, she was in her first national squad.
And though Tahuhu struggled for control and proved expensive for much of her initial experience of international cricket, her raw pace gave her a point of difference to cling to.
Over time, she has developed into the leader of her country’s attack.
Tahuhu is married to New Zealand teammate Amy Satterthwaite, who gave birth to the couple’s first child, Grace, at the beginning of January 2020.
