Javeria Khan is one of Pakistan’s most experienced and successful batsmen.

She had represented her country 200 times, with 103 ODIs and 97 T20Is to her name - as of January 26, 2020.

In her 97 T20Is to that point, she had scored 1744 runs at an average of 21.80, a strike rate of 92.91 and with a high score of 74 not out.

In 2018 Khan was named as captain for the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean, after Bismah Maroof stepped down from the role.

She had a successful tournament and finished as the leading runscorer for Pakistan, with 136 in four matches.

Ahead of the 2020 competition, she was ranked number 18 in the ICC T20I batting standings, ahead of the likes of Hayley Matthews, Tammy Beaumont and Dane van Niekerk.

Khan has a wealth of experience in domestic cricket too, and she most recently represented the PCB Blasters in the National Triangular T20 Women’s Championship.

Despite losing to the PCB Challengers in the final, Khan had a very successful tournament. Her best performances were her 42 off 32 balls against the PCB Dynamites and her 67 off 63 balls against the PCB Challengers.

Khan also performed well in the 2019 T20I series against England. She top-scored in the final T20I by hitting 57 not out off 46 balls.

She will want to continue her recent good form in Australia and her experience will be vital to a team looking to introduce young players into the side.
