Born in Punjab and a lifelong admirer of Virender Sehwag, Harmanpreet Kaur has grown up t bat in the manner of her idol.
The first Indian to sign a Big Bash contract when Sydney Thunder called on her services, she followed that up by becoming the first from her country to play in the Kia Super League when she joined Surrey Stars.
Those deals were the reward for years of hard graft.
She made her ODI debut in 2009 against Pakistan, before reaching a first international century four years later.
She made an unbeaten 107 against England, while another soon followed against Bangladesh.
Her star grew further, however, when she starred at the 2017 World Cup.
In a World Cup semi-final reduced to 42 overs aside, Kaur smashed an unbeaten 171 against Australia to drag her side into the final at Lord’s, a game they would ultimately lose.
During the 2018 World T20, Kaur made her first century in T20Is, hitting eight sixes and seven fours in a hundred against New Zealand.
