At just 18 years old, Fatima Sana is one of the youngest members of Pakistan’s squad.

Although inexperienced on the international stage with just four T20I caps (as of January 26, 2020), she has impressed representing the PCB Challengers in the National Triangular T20 Women’s Championship 2019-20 in Pakistan.

In the first match of the competition she recorded figures of 2-25, taking the key wickets of both Ayesha Naseem and Aliya Riaz.

In the second match, Sana helped her team secure a win by taking 1-21 off her four overs, at an economy rate of just 5.25.

The PCB Challengers reached the final and Sana played a key role in her team’s victory. She once again recorded figures of 1-21 off her four overs and she finished 9* in the run chase to take her team over the line, batting at the end with Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof.

One of Sana’s biggest strengths is her ability to keep the run-rate down and build pressure on batsmen.

Her economy rate was outstanding in the National Triangular T20 Women’s Championship and, in her limited matches for Pakistan, she has performed well with the ball too.

In her first four T20Is, three against South Africa and one against England, she took three wickets at an economy rate of 7.25.

Her best recorded figures came in the fourth match of the T20I series against South Africa and in that fixture she dismissed Nadine de Klerk, Sune Luus and Mignon du Preez, three of South Africa’s best batsmen.

After some impressive recent performances, Sana will hope to make her World Cup debut in Australia.
