Born: November 2, 1992
Role: Legbreaks
Fahima Khatun is one of Bangladesh's secret weapons; her mystery leg spin is capable of troubling batsmen all around the world.
Khatun made her T20 debut in April 2013 against India, and her ODI debut followed three days later, having impressed for Khulna and Barisal in the Bangladesh domestic structure.
She was part of the victorious 2018 Women's Asia Cup squad and selection for the 2019 World T20 qualifiers followed, which is where she has made her most notable performance to date.
Khutan became the first cricketer, man or woman from Bangladesh to take a T20 hat trick, when she went on to make her best T20 bowling figures of 4/8 against the UAE in Scotland, where her celebrations are well remembered by her teammates for being extravagant, as her team bowled out UAE for 39.
From her 55 T20’s, she has taken 30 wickets and from 14 ODI’s she has a return of seven wickets, which she hopes to improve upon as more opportunities come her way. Even though her one-day international record might be as impressive, on one 50-over tour match in 2018 against South Africa she took eight wickets for five runs in the space of 10 overs.
Whilst her bowling excels, one of her main hopes is to become a more profound batsman and hopefully become an all-rounder for her side, and her runs can prove handy towards the lower order. For example her T20 high score is 32*, coming in the qualifiers for the 2020 T20 World Cup where her hat trick was, this time against Papua New Guinea.
When she isn’t practising her bowling, or trying to improve her batting to put her in the ‘all-rounder’ category she is studying for her law degree from the Islamic University of Kushtia in Bangladesh.
