Born: September 11, 1995
Role: Right-arm medium, right-hand bat
Diana Baig made her Pakistan T20I debut against the West Indies in November 2015. Since then - as of January 26, 2020 - she had played 18 T20Is and was included in the squads for both the 2016 and 2018 T20 Women’s World Cup.
In her T20Is prior to the tournament she had taken 13 wickets at an average of 25, an economy rate of 5.78, and with best figures of 2-12.
Baig’s interest in sport started with street cricket and football and she has represented Pakistan in both cricket and football.
She started her cricket career in 2010 and led the Gilgit-Baltistan women’s cricket team.
Baig was then selected for Pakistan’s A team in 2012 and made the Pakistan squad for the first time in 2013.
It took a further two years for her to make her international debut.
A notable performance from Baig came against India in the 2017 Women’s World Cup in which her bowling and fielding was praised by former West Indian cricketer, Ian Bishop.
She had come into the team in place of Kainat Imtiaz and made an impact straight away with the dismissal of Smriti Mandhana, one of the best batsmen in women’s cricket.
Baig is well-known for her ability to swing the ball in to the batsmen and this brings an added dimension to Pakistan’s bowling attack.
