Chanida Sutthiruang was named as the ICC women’s emerging player of the year for 2019.
Over the course of the she took the most wickets of any player at the World T20 Qualifier in Scotland and, therefore, played a key role in taking Thailand to a maiden appearance in a global ICC event.
As a result, she was also awarded the player of the tournament gong in Scotland – she took 12 wickets in just five games.
There was a four-wicket haul against Namibia, as well as three-wicket bags against Ireland and Netherlands, before Sutthiruang claimed a pair of scalps in the crucial semi-final victory over Papua New Guinea that secured her country’s spot in Australia.
