Ama Kanchana made her T20I debut against West Indies in 2013 and has since played 28 T20Is scoring 141 runs at an average of 7.42, with a strike rate of 80.57 and a high score of 17.

With the ball she has taken nine wickets at an average of 40.44, with an economy rate of 9.17 and best figures of 3-22.

She has performed better in ODI cricket in all areas of the game. In her 30 ODIs to January 30, she has scored 293 runs with a high score of 34 not out as well as taking 24 wickets, with an economy rate of 5.44 and best figures of 3-26.

For three years, Kanchana held the record for the highest eighth-wicket partnership in a women’s T20Is alongside Eshani Kaushalya, with 39 runs. It was surpassed in Novmber 2019.

Her bowling has improved in recent years and one of her notable strengths is her consistency with line and length.

She was picked in the squad for the 2018 T20 World Cup in St Lucia but in the one game she played she was dismissed for 0.

Her recent form has been mixed, but she performed well against Australia in the 2019 T20I series.

More importantly for Kanchana, she has recent experience of playing in Australia so she will know the conditions well and this should give her an advantage if picked to play in the upcoming tournament.
