Aiman Anwar made her T20I debut against England in 2016 and has since represented Pakistan in 16 T20Is (as of January 26, 2020).

In her T20I career to that point she had taken 14 wickets at an average of 24.35, an economy rate of 6.31 with best figures of 2-9.

However, Anwar has not represented Pakistan in a T20I since February 2019 and did not feature in the T20I series against England in Kuala Lumpur.

She has been a regular member of the Pakistan training camps, which shows she is highly thought of by the Pakistan selectors - but she has not yet been given the opportunity to feature on the field on a consistent basis.

Anwar is known for her bowling variations, particularly the slower ball which adds an extra dimension to Pakistan’s attack.

She already has experience of being involved in a T20 World Cup, having been included in the squad for the 2018 competition in the Caribbean, so she will understand the pressure and expectation of tournament cricket and can draw on the experience she gained there.

Her standout performance in the 2018 World Cup came against Ireland where she recorded figures of 2-25 off her four overs with 12 dot balls.

Her ability to put pressure on the batsmen is one of her best attributes as a bowler and her dismissal of Isobel Joyce for thirty in the group-stage game against Ireland led to a middle-order batting collapse which left Ireland 38 runs off their target for victory.

Pakistan will need Anwar to perform to the high standards she has proved she can deliver if they are to challenge for the T20 World Cup in 2020.
