Although an inconsistent performer at times, when he gets on top of the opposition, Perera can be unplayable with both bat and ball
Born: April 3, 1989
Role: Left-hand bat, right-arm medium-fast
Allrounder Thisara Perera may not have the best record on paper but he is a genuine matchwinner for his country.
Although an inconsistent performer at times, when he gets on top of the opposition, he can be unplayable with both bat and ball.
Perhaps the best example of this came in 2014 when, after getting dropped for a one day series against South Africa after some lacklustre displays, Perera came straight back into the side for the following series against Pakistan and struck his runs at a rate of 169.56 and took nine wickets at an average of 10.66.
His current form and all-round pedigree make him one of Sri Lanka’s most dangerous and exciting players to watch and when he plays, he is always a potential difference maker.
