A right-arm quick currently in his 10th year of international cricket, Rubel Hossain starred on his ODI debut for Bangladesh when he took 4-33 from just 5.5 overs against Sri Lanka.
Another bowler discovered by Bangladesh’s pace hunt programme, Hossain made his first-class debut in 2007 for Chittagong Division and, looking to emulate his hero Mashrafe Mortaza, Hossain’s threatening pace led to multiple instances of batsmen retiring hurt thanks to his short-pitched bowling.
After graduating from Bangladesh’s under-19s side, Hossain earned ODI, T20I and Test call-ups in 2009 with his T20I debut coming in Bangladesh’s short-lived T20 World Cup campaign.
Nearly 150 internationals later, Hossain is his country’s fourth-highest wicket taker in ODIs and their seventh-highest wicket taker in T20Is.
