A young fast bowler with a great deal of hype surrounding him, and will be looking to use this stage to prove just how good he is
Born: February 18, 1997
Role: Left-hand bat, right-arm fast
Oshane Thomas is a highly rated quick from Jamaica capable of hitting speeds as high as 97mph.
A man-of-the-match spell of 3-31 in a 2017 CPL game, including the dismissal of Chris Gayle for a duck, helped force Thomas into West Indies reckoning and earned him an A team call-up the following month.
At six foot six inches, Thomas’ height, searing pace, accurate yorkers and ability to generate movement mean he has all the ingredients to develop into a top-class fast bowler.
A debut ODI series against India in 2018 saw him only pick up two wickets but in the following T20I series he was the most successful West Indian bowler.
Those exploits in India helped Thomas earn an IPL deal for the Rajasthan Royals where he will line up alongside the likes of Ben Stokes, Steve Smith and Jos Buttler.
With just a handful of international games under his belt, West Indies will be keen to ensure they do not lose Thomas to the lure of T20 riches as he certainly has the potential to become a key part of their international future.
