With figures of 6-80 on Test debut against England at 18, Mehedi Hasan burst on to the scene in 2016 by taking 19 wickets at 15.63 in his first series.
A former Bangladesh under-19s captain, Hasan is clearly a hugely talented offspinner, but he is considered a genuine allrounder and even opened the batting for Bangladesh in the 2018 Asia Cup final.
Sheikh Salahuddin, a former Bangladesh international who was once described as the best offspinner of his generation, spotted Hasan at a young age and taught him the skill at which the young man excelled.
Captain of the under-19s at 16, Hasan was named player of the tournament when he captained his country to a third placed finish at the 2015 World Cup and now, with more than 100 international wickets and nearly 900 international runs, he is hoping to develop into the long-term successor to Shakib Al Hasan.
