Despite his proven pedigree, Sohail didn’t prosper at the last World Cup. Batting at three, he only managed to score one half-century and that came against the UAE. He was also part of the side that collapsed to 1 for 4 against West Indies
Born: January 9, 1989
Role: Left-hand bat, slow left arm
Haris Sohail is one of the more experienced players in the Pakistan squad. Since making his ODI debut in 2013, the 30-year-old has featured 31 times in the format, taking 11 wickets and scoring over 1,000 runs.
The left-hander has also played in nine Tests – scoring two centuries at 44.23 – and nine IT20s (as of 29 April, 2019).
His recent List A form has been terrific. During the ODI series against Australia, Sohail scored two centuries to finish as Pakistan’s highest run scorer in the five-match contest. Additionally, in the first game of Pakistan’s 2019 tour of the British Isles, he scored 75 off 71 to help his side record a 100-run victory over Kent.
Although he’s never played an ODI against Eoin Morgan’s side, he does have experience of playing international cricket in England. In the first Test at Lord’s in 2018, Sohail hit the winning runs as Pakistan recorded a famous victory.
However, that was as good as it got for the allrounder as he failed to score a half-century during the two-match series.
Despite his proven pedigree, Sohail didn’t prosper at the last World Cup. Batting at three, he only managed to score one half-century and that came against the UAE. He was also part of the side that collapsed to 1 for 4 against West Indies.
After a poor showing in Australia and New Zealand, he’ll be desperate to do better this time around.
