Australia's white-ball captain has endured a difficult lead-up to the 2019 World Cup but don't be fooled, the opening batsman is capable of exploding into life at a moment's notice...
Born: November 17, 1986
Role: Right-hand bat, slow left-arm orthodox
A stocky, powerful opening batsman, Aaron Finch is the current white ball captain for Australia having inherited the role in ODIs in the aftermath of the Newlands Sandpapergate scandal.
Finch’s international debut came in the T20I series which followed England’s historic 3-1 away Ashes win in 2011 after his impressive domestic T20 record had already earned him two separate IPL contracts with Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils.
A not out half-century in the second game earned Australia a win and set a clear marker for what was to come from the Victorian. Now over 150 games deep into his international career, Finch has earned a reputation as one of the most dangerous ball strikers in world cricket.
His list of individual honours includes both the highest and second-highest T20I individual scores (both of which are the only individual T20I scores of 150+), the fifth most ODI hundreds for Australia and the joint-fastest ODI half-century by an Australian.
A top-quality cricketer, Finch has over 5,000 runs in white ball cricket for Australia.
