England and Australia meet in a T20 international at Edgbaston

After defeating Australia 5-0 in their one-day international series, England face the same opposition in a one-off T20 match this week. The Cricketer has the whos, whats, wheres and whens...

What’s the occasion?

It’s the only IT20 between England and Australia.

Where is the venue for this match?

Edgbaston, the home of Warwickshire, is the host.

How do we rate England’s chances?

Pretty high. Against a demoralised and understrength Australian outfit England should see themselves as favourites.

In nearly every department England appear to have the edge, with Jonny Bairstow recalled and Moeen Ali returning to partner Adil Rashid in the hosts' spin attack.

With Trevor Bayliss taking a break until the India ODIs, Paul Farbrace comes in to reprise the role as coach he temporarily held in 2015.

Who are England likely to play?

There is a good chance brothers Sam and Tom Curran will play for England together for the first time, Jake Ball is recalled and Mark Wood rested after the ODI series.

Bairstow and Moeen are both likely to feature after their rest during the Tri Series in Australia and New Zealand earlier this year.

What about Australia?

A new look side to the one whitewashed in the ODI series with Aaron Finch as captain, replacing the banned David Warner.

Alex Carey comes in as wicketkeeper and vice-captain. The squad on the whole is experienced though with a possible debut for tweaker Mitch Swepson alongside incumbent Ashton Agar.

When is first ball?

The two sides get going at 6.30pm BST on Wednesday evening.

How can we follow this glorious affair?

Sky Sports Main Event (Sky 401, Virgin 511) and Sky Sports Cricket (Sky 404, Virgin 514) have all the coverage of the live moving picture sort, as with the rest of the English international summer, and their coverage gets underway from 6pm.

What about if I don’t have a TV handy nearby?

Test Match Special is on hand if you are devoid of a TV, their radio coverage features on Five Live Sports Extra. That’s 12B on DAB digital radio, channel 706 on Freeview, 0144 on Sky and 908 on Virgin Media.

The Cricketer will have in-play updates on social media and our usual post-match packages online.

What’s the weather looking like?

Bright, clear sunshine with high temperatures into the late teens. A lack of cloud cover should assist the batters and provide a good surface for both teams to make high scores.

Who's favourite?

You can get Australia to win at a decent 6/4, England are still odds-on favourites though at 8/15.
