Within the process host venues were determined up to 2024 for:

  • Domestic Finals – Edgbaston would be the exclusive host of the T20 Blast Finals, having hosted the event nine times to date, with Trent Bridge the new home for the Final of the 50-over competition from 2020 onwards.
  • Test Matches – These would be staged at six different grounds, given the expectation of six home Tests each year. Lord’s would host two each year, with five other venues each staging Test matches over the period.
  • T20 and One Day Internationals – Ten venues across England and Wales would host limited overs internationals each season with four staging white ball games exclusively and six staging Tests alongside.

Absolute disgrace that there isn't a test match at the Ageas Bowl home of Hampshire c.c.c. They've supported English cricket now for a number of years & ploughed millions into their ground, it would be nice to hear an explanation of this derisary decision from the powers that be, cricket is for everyone not just the chosen few.

It is absolutely ludicrous that Lords has two test matches against India in 2021 and Edgbaston doesn’t have one all. Given the huge Indian population in and around the Birmingham area and their passion for cricket and the support of their team the decision is bizarre. The ECB have shot themselves in the foot. As well as guaranteeing a sell-out crowd for every day at Edgbaston the revenue from food and beverage sales would have been enormous.

Having just seen the allocation of major matches for the period 2020 -2025 I have to say that I am staggered at the apparent unfairness of the allocations. As a Hampshire supporter I am amazed that whatever criteria has been used to make the allocations that the Ageas Bowl does not get a Test Match in the whole of the Period and appears to get one 1 Day International in 2023 and 6 T20's over a 5 year Period. I am sure a number of other grounds will be disappointed with their allocations but surely none can feel as aggrieved as the Ageas Bowl !
