Brydon Carse has extended his stay at Durham until the end of the 2021 English season

Durham have announced that 23-year-old allrounder Brydon Carse has signed a three year contract extension with the club.

The South African has committed his future to the North East club with his contract set to run until the end of the 2021 English domestic season.

Carse, who bowls right-arm fast, made his first-class debut for Durham in 2016 and immediately impressed by taking 17 wickets in eight matches. The allrounder has a first-class average of 38 with the bat and 39 with the ball after playing in 11 first-class games.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Brydon said: “I’m delighted to have signed a new deal with Durham; I enjoy living in the North East and Emirates Riverside is a special place to play cricket.

“I believe the club is on the way up and following conversations with my dad, Jon Lewis and new chief executive Tim Bostock, I’m convinced that this is the best place for me to continue to develop my cricket and compete for silverware.”

Durham head coach, Jon Lewis, said on the extension: “Brydon is an exceptionally talented young man who, despite struggling with injuries, has demonstrated his potential with both bat and ball.

“Brydon deciding to stay at Durham demonstrates the direction the club is moving in and gives us a lot of positivity going into next season.

“Our aim is to achieve promotion back to Division One and Brydon will certainly help us to do that.”
