NICK HOWSON AT HEADINGLEY: The Australia opener went to his first half-century of the series, a valuable knock amid the seaming and swinging conditions
Australia's David Warner has hailed England's bowling performance on the opening day of the third Ashes Test as "incredible" and compared Jofra Archer's display to Dale Steyn.
The tourists were bowled out for 179 during a truncated first day at Headingley, with Marnus Labuschagne top-scoring on 74 as just three batsmen reached double figures.
Jofra Archer claimed his first Test five-for while a probing Stuart Broad also caused problems with two wickets.
Warner reached 61 - his first half-century of the series - before becoming one of Archer's six victims and felt the proposition of facing England's seam attack was daunting.

"That's incredible test bowling. Joe won the toss and looked upstairs and wanted to bowl. They use that very well. They put the ball in the right areas.
"As a left-hander, Broady is going to challenge your off-stump a lot and try and create that drive, and the same with Jofra. He bowled a bit like Dale Steyn with the new ball.
"He used the conditions and ramped up it when he needed to and that was was world-class bowling at its best."
Warner played at missed at 11 of his first 25 balls but he soon settled, and alongside Marnus Labuschagne put on 111 for the third wicket.
The 32-year-old had scored 18 runs in the series up until that point and took extra satisfaction from the innings given the overhead conditions and the quality of the England attack.
Jofra Archer and Stuart Broad combined to take eight first innings Australia wickets
"It has been challenging but coming into it mentally I felt like I was in form," he added.
"I've had three balls that I couldn't have done anything with them. The first one I missed on my legs. But for me, I've always felt like I was in form and I've worked my backside off in the nets.
"Today was about trying to negate that good ball and not get out to it. I had a lot of luck. If a good ball was going to get me out that was how I wanted to get out. I was very pleased with how I adjusted.
"You're always nice and sharp when you've got a lot of movement out there. You can't get caught on the crease. They bowled unbelievable. It is always challenging but ss a batsman you have to stay in a positive mindset. A play and a miss is almost a good shot."
