Amanda-Jade Wellington has a strong record in English conditions, taking 35 wickets in 23 appearances in The Hundred and a further 15 wickets in 11 Kia Super League outings
Western Storm have bolstered their squad for 2024 with the addition of Australia spinner Amanda-Jade Wellington.
The leg-spinner is expected to be available for the entire season across both the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and Charlotte Edwards Cup.
Wellington has a strong record in English conditions, taking 35 wickets in 23 appearances in The Hundred and a further 15 wickets for Southern Vipers during their 2019 Kia Super League campaign. Earlier in March, she was drafted by two-time champions Oval Invincibles for the fourth edition of The Hundred.
The 26-year-old, who has 30 wickets in 23 matches for Australia, will arrive in the south-west in hot form after impressing for Adelaide Strikers and South Australia over the winter. She took 23 wickets in the Women's Big Bash for the former, helping them reach the final, and finished second in the Women's National Cricket League wicket-taking charts (19) with the latter.

"I can't wait to get going. I enjoy challenging myself in English conditions, and I'm looking forward to playing both 50-over and T20 cricket this summer," Wellington said.
"Hopefully, I can bring a bit of experience to the group and help us win some games of cricket across both formats."
Western Storm will be keen to benefit from both her experience and wickets after a disappointing 2023 season.
They finished fifth in the Charlotte Edwards Cup and bottom in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, 10 points behind seventh-placed Thunder. Chloe Skelton was their leading wicket-taker in 50-over cricket, with 14 wickets, while Dani Gibson led the way in the Charlotte Edwards Cup, with eight.
Head coach, Trevor Griffin, added: "Amanda-Jade is an outstanding cricketer who will bring both experience and additional quality to the side.
"Her record speaks for itself and over the last few years she has shown that she can excel in English conditions. It's an exciting signing for us and we are looking forward to welcoming her into the Western Storm family."
