Eve Jones will replace Ellyse Perry as captain of Birmingham Phoenix following the Australian's withdrawal from The Hundred.

Tess Flintoff comes into the squad in place of the allrounder, who suffered a knee injury in the latter stages of the Women's Ashes.

Jones will be the third player to captain Birmingham Phoenix, following in the footsteps of Amy Jones and Sophie Devine.

The 30-year-old already has considerable captaincy experience under her belt, having led Central Sparks in both 50-over and T20 cricket since 2020.

Commenting on her recent appointment, Jones said: "I feel honoured to represent Birmingham Phoenix as captain.

"Edgbaston is my home ground, and as a local girl, it will be a privilege to lead out the side."

Head coach Ben Sawyer added: "I'm excited to see Eve take on the captaincy role as I know she's a perfect fit.

"Having been a part of our group since the very beginning, Eve is a leader and a strong presence within the dressing room, especially with her experience with Central Sparks."

Perry's replacement, Flintoff, may be unfamiliar to many English fans but lit up the 2022/23 Women's Big Bash. The Australian recorded the fastest half-century in the competition's history when she hit 50 off 16 balls for Melbourne Stars against Adelaide Strikers.

Flintoff has also featured for Victoria in the Women's National Cricket League and made her debut for Australia A against England A in January 2022.
