The England, Oval Invincibles and South East Stars quick becomes the latest fast-bowler to be struck down by the injury and won't play again this summer
England will be without Tash Farrant for the entire 2022 summer after it was revealed the left-arm seamer has suffered a lumbar spine stress fracture.
The 25-year-old has been ruled out for six months with the injury after she detected discomfort after playing for South East Stars in the Charlotte Edwards Cup.
Farrant made her return to action after two months off, following the World Cup, in the FairBreak Invitational and was back in domestic action on May 18 against Central Sparks.
But she will play no further part in the summer, including England's extensive schedule that takes in the Commonwealth Games, and the second edition of the women's Hundred with defending champions Oval Invincibles.
"England and South East Stars bowler Tash Farrant has suffered a lumbar spine stress fracture," the ECB said in a statement. "The medical teams at England and South East Stars will work together on her rehabilitation."
Heather Knight's side are due to host South Africa in a single Test before facing The Proteas and India in three one-day internationals and a trio of T20s each.

The summer rounds off with England women's return to Lord's for the first time since winning the 2017 World Cup, against India in the third ODI.
Sandwiched in between those series is the maiden appearance of women's cricket at the Commonwealth Games.
That is directly followed by The Hundred. Farrant was the leading wicket-taker across both competitions, collecting 18 scalps at 10.27.
Since debuting for England at the age of 17, Farrant has played six ODIs and 18 T20s for her country.
It is the latest back stress fracture to blight an England seamer in recent months. A list including Olly Stone, Matt Fisher, Saqib Mahmood, Sam Curran, Tom Curran was last week joined by Jofra Archer in the latest setback of his injury-plagued international career.
Ollie Robinson is also suffering from back issues which have impinged on his game time in 2022.
