Jess Kerr has returned to Brisbane Heat for the remainder of the 2022 Women's Big Bash.

The New Zealand international replaces Pooja Vastrakar, who has been recalled to India to attend training camps ahead of the domestic and international season.

Kerr played three matches for the Heat earlier in the tournament due to the late arrivals of Danni Wyatt and Vastrakar, picking up four wickets and posting a team-leading economy of 5.25.

Vastrakar has struggled during her time with Brisbane Heat, picking up just two wickets and conceding 8.15 runs per over in seven appearances. She has also scored 32 runs.

Head coach, Ashley Noffke, said: "While we're disappointed to see Pooja leave before the end of the tournament, we have really valued her input and the way she has contributed to the group.

"She has been a lot of fun to be around, and we have thoroughly enjoyed having her as part of the Heat.

"We hope she has gained a lot from her WBBL experience and are looking forward to seeing her take her game to a higher level in the future.

"We're very fortunate to be able to welcome Jess Kerr back for the remainder of the competition and thank her for making the time in her schedule to fulfil that extra commitment."

One additional concern for the Heat is a possible injury to Georgia Redmayne. The wicketkeeper, who currently leads the golden bat standings with 333 runs at a strike rate of 111.74, retired hurt against Perth Scorchers with a hamstring issue. Ellie Johnston stepped up with the gloves in her absence.
