Perry injured her hamstring during the T20 World Cup earlier this year and had hoped to make a return in this fixture block but she aggravated the injury further during a training session
Australia allrounder Ellyse Perry has been ruled out of the remaining fixtures in the New Zealand series after re-injuring her hamstring.
Perry injured her hamstring during the T20 World Cup earlier this year and had hoped to make a return in this fixture block but she aggravated the injury further during a training session.
The Southern Stars have an unassailable 2-0 series lead but will be looking for the series sweep in the final match on Wednesday.
Captain Meg Lanning also confirmed that Perry will miss the subsequent ODI series, however there are hopes that she will be fit for the Women's Big Bash League which gets underway next month.
“Unfortunately she had some hamstring awareness and has got a low grade strain, so she won’t be available for the rest of this series,” Lanning told reporters on Tuesday.
“It’s a very complex injury, and hard to get the timing on when certain things will happen.
“It’s really important to get it right and take the time before we do put her out on the field. Hopefully it’s sooner rather than later, but we’ll just have to see how it pans out.”
