Charlotte Edwards will lead the Mumbai-based franchise as head coach for the first edition of the Women's Premier League.

India's all-time leading wicket-taker Jhulan Goswami will act as mentor and bowling coach while Devika Palshikar is the batting lead.

Trupti Chandgadkar Bhattacharya has been installed as the team manager.

IndiaWin Sports, a subsidiary of the Mumbai Indians-owned Reliance Industries, purchased one of five WPL sides last month for an estimated ₹912.99 crore (£91 million).

Rachael Haynes was earlier this week confirmed to lead the Gujarat side in the wake of her retirement from all cricket last November.

After captaining England to two World Cup wins in the 50 and 20-over formats, Edwards has built a formidable reputation as a coach.

As head of cricket at Hampshire, she has overseen Southern Vipers' domination of domestic cricket, which has included winning the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy twice and the Charlotte Edwards Cup.

Since 2021, the 43-year-old has led Southern Brave in The Hundred - they reached the inaugural final - and took charge of Sydney Sixers in the most recent Women's Big Bash League.

"I am sure that under Charlotte's brilliant leadership and with the able support of our bowling coach and mentor Jhulan and our batting coach Devieka, our women's team will build on and carry forward MI's iconic legacy," Reliance Industries director Nita Ambani said.

"I look forward to working closely with our coaches and the entire team on this very exciting journey ahead."
