The Cricketer looks at the individual performances from England's Women's World Cup defeat against South Africa
Lizelle Lee (9): Has a fine record against England but was bowled attempting something agricultural over the legside 2
Laura Wolvaardt (77): Dropped three times by England, who also had the chance to have her stumped, but took advantage of her fortune and played beautifully 8
Tazmin Brits (23): Started slowly and never looked comfortable, but forged a useful partnership with Wolvaardt 4
Sune Luus (36; 0-33): Her bowling was ropey for the most part but played well alongside Woolvardt and ensured South Africa never got stuck in their run-chase 6
Mignon du Preez (8): Slashed at a wide delivery and edged behind 3
Marizanne Kapp (32 ; 5-45): Terrific variations of pace at the death, having swung the new ball early; deserved her first international five-wicket haul; batted her side to the brink of victory 9

Chloe Tryon (15; 0-44): Got away with 10 overs of left-arm spin without being properly attacked; unlucky to be run out via Brunt's fingertips 5
Trisha Chetty (11*): Kept tidily and was a cool head at the end with the bat 5
Shabnim Ismail (5*; 0-23): Pulled up lame with a toe problem and could only get through five overs 4
Masabata Klaas (2-23): Excellent display from the seamer who was praised by Kapp at the mid-innings break 7
Ayabonga Khaka (1-59): Bowled better than her figures suggested; might have taken the pace off more than she chose to 4
Tammy Beaumont (62): Did as she does in ODI cricket, keeping England ticking even as wickets fell around her; yet another half century 7
Danni Wyatt (3): Promotion up the order didn't pay off, which is hardly surprising given her record at the top of the order 2
Heather Knight (9; 0-19): Unfortunate to be bowled while trying to leave, but the consequence of indecision; once again at the crease earlier than she'd have liked 3
Nat Sciver (16; 1-21): Remarkable way to go and incredibly unlucky; had appeared in terrific nick until finding slip with the back of her bat in the follow-through from a pull shot; often too legside with the ball 4
Amy Jones (53): Much-needed runs for the wicketkeeper, who's been short in that department for some time; run out when England needed her to kick on 7
Sophia Dunkley (26): Ungainly innings, which featured the runout of Jones from a single that was never on; struggled to get to grips with the pitch's slow nature 4

Katherine Brunt (17; 0-54): Too short with the ball and dealt with easily by South Africa's batters 4
Kate Cross (6; 1-40): Dropped two chances – once off her own bowling, another at mid-off; always a threat with the ball 5
Sophie Ecclestone (15*; 1-23): Once again unfortunate to be on the losing side; bowled beautifully 7
Charlie Dean (6; 1-33): Difficult for the off-spinner against so many right-handers but stuck to her task and was rewarded with Luus' wicket 5
Anya Shrubsole (2* 2-34): Always a threat with the new ball and managed to remain valuable even once the ball had stopped swinging 7
