Ellyse Perry will represent Sydney Sixers in the 2022/23 Women's Big Bash.

The 31-year-old allrounder has spent her entire career with the Sixers, scoring 3,361 runs and taking 45 wickets in 96 appearances.

Only Beth Mooney (3,674 runs) has scored more runs in the tournament's history while her wicket haul places her fourth in the all-time standings for Sydney Sixers.

Although struggling to cement a spot in Australia's T20 plans of late, she was the Sixers' leading run-scorer in a disappointing WBBL07 campaign, scoring 358 runs – her seventh consecutive 350-plus run season.

She will continue to captain Sydney Sixers in WBBL08.

Commenting on signing a new contract with the two-time champions, Perry said: "The club has been such a significant part of my career, and I am especially proud of what the team has been able to achieve both on and off the field over the last seven years, especially in terms of engaging and inspiring lots of young girls and boys to be involved in cricket.

"I'm really looking forward to the challenge this season presents, and also the opportunity to play at home again."

Incoming head coach, Charlotte Edwards, said: "I am elated that Ellyse has re-signed with the Sixers, and am very excited about working closely with her to return the club to the finals in WBBL08.

"Ellyse has been one of the world's best players for a long, long time, and is part of the fabric of the Sydney Sixers. I have no doubt she will continue to lead the team by example as we look to play an attacking, exciting brand of cricket that our fans can be proud of."
