Heather Knight is confident England are not "too far away" from identifying their best XI ahead of the 2023 T20 World Cup.

Head coach, Jon Lewis, has had a look at 14 players during England's ongoing series against West Indies, with Issy Wong the only member of the touring party yet to feature. The quick is currently unavailable for selection due to experiencing tightness in her squad.

And the England skipper believes the five-match series, which her side lead 3-0 after completing a 17-run in Bridgetown, has served its purpose as a "fact-finding mission".

"I don't think we're too far away from knowing our best team and knowing what the T20 World Cup squad looks like," Knight said.

"It's all been a bit of a fact-finding mission and getting to know a few people and how they work in slightly different places."

Two players who have particularly impressed in the Caribbean are Sophia Dunkley and Charlie Dean. Opening the batting, Dunkley has scored a team-leading 112 runs at a strike rate of 117.89, including a knock off 44 off 31 in the third T20I.

Dean, meanwhile, was introduced into the XI for the second T20I – her first proper outing in the format after her debut in Australia was rained off after 4.1 overs – and boasts series figures of 7 for 41 from eight overs.

"I think the way Sophia [Dunkley] started us off today was a great tone setter for the whole innings. She was so composed, knew her options really well and always nice to get off to a flier, it means you don't have as much work to do down the order and you can keep going hard throughout the innings," Knight said.

"On the bowlers, we've obviously mixed up the team a little to offer opportunities and work out a bit about a few different players and someone like Charlie Dean has really come in and grasped hers. We're so lucky we've got such depth in the spin department."

Reflecting on her own performance, which saw her contribute 43 runs off 27 deliveries, Knight added: "I definitely enjoyed today [Saturday]! In T20 it's all about trying to find the boundaries and play to your strengths and I felt  on that wicket that my strengths were being a bit funky and hitting square of the wicket so it was nice to contribute to a team win and nice to feel in good form."
