Hobart: Sydney Thunder 121-6, Melbourne Renegades 122-5 - Melbourne Renegades win by five wickets

Scorecard

Melbourne Renegades hauled themselves off the bottom of the WBBL table as they defeated Sydney Thunder in a bottom-of-the-table clash by five wickets.

Both teams were in search of just their second win of the season in Hobart but it was a captain's knock from Sophie Molineux, of 55 not out from 45 balls, which led a chase of 122 with two overs to spare.

England's Amy Jones (53) was the sole performer for Thunder as they were restricted by a bowling effort that included two wickets each for Ella Hayward and Shabnim Ismail.

The used surface proved tricky throughout the match as Thunder never got going; only ten boundaries were hit during the innings and no one other than Jones made above 19.

Renegades were under immediate pressure at 30 for 3, which included Josie Dooley deciding not to review an LBW that was shown to be going over the top.

From that point, though, Molineux combined with Courtney Webb to put together a match-winning 52-run partnership.

Three fours in a row were hit off the bowling of Belinda Vakarewa in the 18th over of Renegades' innings before a single ensured it was the last of the game.

Molineux, who has spent much of the season at the top of the order, found her best knock of the season at No.4 to complete the heist of 122.
