India trio to play in The Hundred after BCCI grant No Objection Certificates

India superstar Shafali Verma has signed with Sydney Sixers for the Women's Big Bash League.

The 17-year-old is expected to be among three India players to feature in this year's WBBL.

"Yes, Shafali has signed the contract with Sydney Sixers, and given she is a minor, I have had to give my consent, too," Verma's father, Sanjeev, told ESPNcricinfo

"I would like to thank the BCCI and Haryana Cricket Association [HCA] for giving my daughter the permission and support to play in the WBBL.

"Without the guidance of the HCA, whatever Shafali is doing in her career wouldn't have been possible."

Left-arm spinner Radha Yadav is likely to join Verma at one of the two Sydney-based sides, according to ESPNCricinfo.

Verma, who has represented her country on 22 occasions, shot to fame during last year's T20 World Cup scoring 163 runs at a strike rate 158.25.

She is currently ranked 75th in the women's T20 Player Index.

Just three India players have previously played in the WBBL. Harmanpreet Kaur played three campaigns for Sydney Thunder, Veda Krishnamurthy played a single season with Hobart Hurricanes while Smriti Mandhana has represented Brisbane Heat and Hurricanes.

The development comes after the BCCI granted no-objection certificates to Kaur, Mandhana and Deepti Sharma to play in the inaugural edition of The Hundred this summer.
