Amy Jones will represent Sydney Thunder in the 2022/23 Women's Big Bash.

The England wicketkeeper-batter has previously represented Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers in the WBBL, scoring 728 runs at a strike rate of 111.65 in 40 appearances.

Jones won the 2017/18 Big Bash with the Sixers, making four appearances as a replacement overseas signing, and also reached the semi-finals with Perth Scorchers in 2020/21.

Commenting on joining Sydney Thunder, Jones said: "I've had a year or two out of the league, so it will be great to be a part of the competition again. I look forward to having fun out there - and hopefully contributing to some wins for Sydney Thunder.

"I played alongside Rachael at Loughborough Lightning [in England's T20 competition] in 2018, and she was an excellent leader.

"And while I'm looking forward to that I also realise there's loads of exciting talent there. Thunder seems to have a tremendous blend of experience and youth.

"What I've heard from [England teammates] Heather Knight and Tammy Beaumont is the club has a bunch of really cool people. They speak very highly of the group and the club, and I can't wait to be a part of that."

Head coach, Trevor Griffin, added: "Amy is a player who I have been watching for a number of years. She's one of the best cricketers in the world; is capable of batting in a number of positions and is highly regarded.

"She'll be backing up with the gloves for 'T' [Tahlia Wilson]. Amy is a great asset for the team, and I'm extremely excited to have an opportunity to work with her at Sydney Thunder."

Jones is one of three overseas players on Sydney Thunder's roster, joining England teammate Beaumont and South Africa's Chloe Tryon.
